ABOUT STEADYPRESS

Built by someone who answers the phone when a client site goes down.

SteadyPress is a product company born from 20+ years of running a WordPress agency. We build the tools we wish we’d had.

WHY WE EXIST

This started with a broken client site and a bad plugin.

SteadyPress was founded by Masen Yaffee, the owner of New Directions In Computing — a web services company on California’s Central Coast that’s been building and managing WordPress sites for clients since before WordPress had plugins.

After two decades of managing client sites, the pattern was impossible to ignore: the vast majority of WordPress problems trace back to plugins. An abandoned plugin that stops getting security patches. A premium plugin with no public changelog and no way to evaluate its reliability. A site with 40 plugins installed when 15 would do the job — and no systematic way to figure out which 25 to cut.

The tools to evaluate plugin reliability didn’t exist. So we built them.

SteadyScore was built to answer the question we found ourselves asking every week: can this plugin stay in the stack, or does it have to go? Not based on gut feel or a quick glance at the “last updated” date — based on actual data.

OUR APPROACH

Honest tools for people who build real things.

Transparency Over Mystery

Our scoring methodology is open. Click any score and see exactly what contributed to it. We don’t hide behind proprietary algorithms or vague “AI-powered insights.” If we score a plugin low, we show you why.

Practitioners, Not Theorists

We manage real client sites. We don’t deploy on Fridays because we value our weekends. But we’ve debugged plugin conflicts at 11pm on a Sunday when we needed to. We’d just rather not need to. Every feature in SteadyScore exists because we needed it on a real project — not because a product manager hypothesized it would be useful.

No Hype, No Scare Tactics

We don’t sell anxiety. SteadyScore is a reliability tool, not a threat detector. We give you data and let you make decisions. We’ll never tell you “your site is at risk” in blinking red text to pressure an upgrade.

THE MISSION

Our mission is to help you be a more reliable and trusted vendor for your clients by making your clients’ WordPress sites more reliable.

WordPress powers a significant share of the web, and plugins are what make it endlessly adaptable. But the ecosystem runs on trust — trust that a plugin author will keep their code maintained, trust that an update won’t break your site, trust that someone is watching for vulnerabilities.

SteadyPress exists to make that trust measurable. SteadyScore is the first product. It won’t be the last. Everything we build will serve the same goal: helping WordPress developers make better decisions, faster, with data they can verify.

We’d rather you try the product than take our word for it.
